Self-discipline is the essence of fasting during the holy month of Ramadan. With that being said, here are a few know-how's that can help you eat well without putting on excessive weight during the fasting month. And yes, it can be realistically achieved if you put your mind to it.
1. Never over eat during iftar.
2. Don't eat continuously from iftar until suhoor. Balance out your meals.
3. Consume more soup as it is low in calories and will make you feel full faster.
4. Chew your food well to avoid indigestion.
5. During the non-fasting hours, drink at least eight glasses of water and avoid carbonated drinks or fruit juices added with sugar.
6. Make sure the meals that you consume consist of low-fat dairy products, more lean meats, vegetables and fruits.
7. When cooking at home, choose to bake, roast, steam or grill instead of deep frying your food.
8. Avoid the sweet treats as much as you can.
